So, after I move, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that I need to get another cat to keep the Claude company. A friend of mine took in a stray pregnant cat, and she had a litter of 7 on Jul 4 (so they're just 6 weeks old now).

Now, I originally wanted an older cat, because they're a bit more sedate and whatnot, as well as being already fixed and filled with shots. But I fear I'm being overcome by the cute.

Edit : Also, if any of you are in the market for a cat or two, I can get you in contact with the people who are looking after these.

"If anyone of you would like to adopt any of my 7 kittens (they were born on the fourth of July, so they are 6 weeks going on 7), please let me know. The grey one that we call "Football" has been spoken for already, even if I can't get a hold of that person right now. Hmmm....Anyway, They all need homes with good, responsible owners. If you would like one (or know of anyone who might), please let me know!

There isn't a lot of light today, so a couple of the pictures are dark. I also tried to pair them up, in case you would like two of them (recommended if you don't have any cats already). They are all either brown tabbies or grey tabbies, although Football is mostly grey. All are shorthair, although Torty and Bear look like they might grow to be medium hair."

Whitey (girl):

Football (boy) and Mr. Perfect (boy):

Torty (girl) and Bear (boy):

Twin 1 (girl) and Twin 2 (boy):

i'm kind of partial to bear.

but then again, i also prefer to adopt adult cats because they're harder to find homes for (everyone squees over a kitten, and they get snapped right up.)

but this isn't hte humane society, so...

bear, then whitey. she looks sassy.

She is indeed sassy. They call her Whitey Bitey, well, because she likes to bite.

I'd be down for getting another girl cat to keep mine company. Lemme know how that's looking.

We'd planned to get an older cat to keep Poe company, especially because older cats are harder to adopt out. Buuuut, our vet really recommended a kitten. Putting two adult cats together can lead to territoriality, especially if they're both males -- even neutered males. But if you put a kitten with an adult, there's less of a problem. The adult might even take a nurturing role with the kitten. Poe's always been something of a cranky, troubled cat, but with little Topaz he became like a loving mom...cleaning her, protecting her from danger. They still play and sleep in a yin-yang pile all the time.

Dan, you are an evil, evil man!

I might be getting Ellie from Ben. If that doesn't pan out, I may in the the market for 2 kittens. I'll let you know as soon as I hear from Ben.

Oh the cuteness!
I do not need a third cat. I do not need a third cat (repeat ad naseum to self)

Mr. Perfect is my favorite, but they're all so adorable.

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] merteuil. Two older cats can have issues, but a kitten is more likely to take the lead from the older cat. When we were decided on a second cat, it was also recommended to us that the new cat be a kitten so that Misha wouldn't revert back to the beta, ultra skittish cat that she was before I adopted her. I'm really glad we followed that advice. However, in the end, it all comes down to the cats' personalities and what you think would work best. It is definitely possible to find an older cat that has the personality to match Claude's and your needs.
