furniture!

Kate and I now have (or at least will soon have)...furniture!

Exciting, non?

We got a couch, a lurve seat, a incredibly comfy recliner and a chaise...on a payment plan that shouldn't be too bad assuming we pay it all off before interest starts to accrue (that being Jan 2007).

I will actually soon own furniture that I had to pay for! (everything else has been freebies or extremely cheap at St. Vinnies')

Now to try to figure out where in the living room to place everything--the chaise may end up in the bedroom till we get a new place, and some of it may end up in storage, since [livejournal.com profile] ratthing already has a lurve seat. But the deal was just too good, we had to get it soon or else deal with all this later on this summer--and who knows if we would have found stuff we liked as well.

Yay!

SWEET! :) :) :)

Where did you go to get no interest until 2007?!?! I only got mine for a year. :(

Ashley Furniture, on the east side. No payments till 2005, no interest accruing till 2007. (interest is at something horrible like 23% though once it kicks in).

Yeah. That's the game most furniture stores play. If you don't pay it off within their timeframe you get SCREWED on the interest. I've got until October to pay of my set, so it shouldn't be a big deal. I guess the shorter timeframe just gives me that extra motivation to pay it off! ;)

Awesome! I'd love to see it. :)

It just occured to me that all the furniture in my apartment save for my desk, mattress, and a bookshelf is either rescued from the curb or from various thrift stores. I aspire to actually own furniture that no one else has owned someday.

ditto. my futon's the only thing i bought new, though a case could be made for the bookcases i got at ikea; they were all scratch and dents, though. even our dining room table was supermarkeddown because it was a floor model with a big gouge out of it.
