Newton got out on Sunday night. :(
Kate and I spent an hour or so looking for him in the dark, to no avail. Cats can be very good hiders when they’re spooked.
I took off the afternoon yesterday to look some more and put up flyers, but I ran out of tape half way through. I’m going to get some more tape this afternoon and then do the streets west of my house. (I got Sherman/Fordem yesterday) I didn’t find Newton yesterday afternoon, but I *did* find three cats who weren’t him. They didn’t let me get close enough to check their tags, though. It’s comforting to know that it’s possible for cats to live ok on their own.
I’ve been leaving a food dish outside my door, in case he gets hungry and finds his way back. *Something* has been eating it, but it may just be squirrels (or the aforementioned local strays).
Unfortunately, the only ID he has on him is a rabies vaccination tag (good) with a disconnected number for my vet who closed earlier this year (bad).
I’m also going to call the Humane Society as soon as they open (they don’t open till noon, but say they start taking calls at 10am).

I hope you find him / he finds you soon

I hope he finds his way back! The vet might have call forwarding or something. I think someone has to keep the vaccination records on file somewhere.

Not sure if that helps at all, but I was surprised by that, which is why it's still rattling around in my head.

no good, no good. sometimes, though, peter will wander around for a couple days and then come home. he's probably just excited to be in the great outdoors, as it were, and will come home soon.

Erm..well maybe he did. :(
Poor N00t0n (tetherball).

silly kittens. our first kitty took off for almost a month once. our neighbors found his collar about a week after he took off, so tags would not have helped him there.
newton, come home!

It's only been a couple of days, so don't lose hope yet. A friend of mine recently moved to Dallas and her cats ran away the first night she let them out. They didn't come back for over a week, but they DID come back. Even to a place that that they didn't know as "home". Just keep an eye out and hopefully you'll find him wandering around.
*hugs*

I hope he's found soon - would be sad without the Newton..
