Newton got out on Sunday night. :(

Kate and I spent an hour or so looking for him in the dark, to no avail. Cats can be very good hiders when they’re spooked.

I took off the afternoon yesterday to look some more and put up flyers, but I ran out of tape half way through. I’m going to get some more tape this afternoon and then do the streets west of my house. (I got Sherman/Fordem yesterday) I didn’t find Newton yesterday afternoon, but I *did* find three cats who weren’t him. They didn’t let me get close enough to check their tags, though. It’s comforting to know that it’s possible for cats to live ok on their own.

I’ve been leaving a food dish outside my door, in case he gets hungry and finds his way back. *Something* has been eating it, but it may just be squirrels (or the aforementioned local strays).

Unfortunately, the only ID he has on him is a rabies vaccination tag (good) with a disconnected number for my vet who closed earlier this year (bad).

I’m also going to call the Humane Society as soon as they open (they don’t open till noon, but say they start taking calls at 10am).
