Not to belittle [livejournal.com profile] eevilyounggirl's car trouble...but my car turned out to have nothing wrong with it. This of course makes me suspicious, but what can you do? So they charged me for the tow and hooking the thing up to their computer, and told me to use regular gas (regular unleaded? what an oxymoron!) when it gets cold out.

I guess we'll see if their diagnosis is right.

Yeah, that's what i figured what the light meant. They said it had registered some misfire codes, but that was it.

Perhaps the coilpacks? The coilpacks for a lot of the 1.8T engines were recalled a while back for the 2001-2003 VWs.

"If an ignition coil fails, the check engine light/malfunction indicator lamp will blink. The car's performance may ... become rough and/or the engine will lose some power..."

I guess if she's behaving normally now, it isn't a big deal, but if it comes up again that might be a possibility. Good luck!

Interesting...though I doubt that's the problem. Mine is a 2000.

Though the symptoms were pretty similar. I guess I get to cross my fingers and see what happens next.
