yay car is fixed

Not to belittle [livejournal.com profile] eevilyounggirl's car trouble...but my car turned out to have nothing wrong with it. This of course makes me suspicious, but what can you do? So they charged me for the tow and hooking the thing up to their computer, and told me to use regular gas (regular unleaded? what an oxymoron!) when it gets cold out.

I guess we'll see if their diagnosis is right.

Try diesel. Sure, the hose doesn't appear to fit, but you can get it to work.

Well, that's good that it's not anything. Where'd you take it, out of curiousity? Apparently Genin's is the place to be.

In other news, wanna pay for half of mine?

Kyle switches to regular unleaded in the wintertime and he says his GTI runs a LOT better. Zimbrick suggested it for better performance, but they never said anything about actual problems if he didn't switch. Hopefully it'll do the trick in your case, but that does seem like a bit of a cop out.

Your MIL was flashing, which for VWs means "get off the road now and call service". Did they tell you what the OBD code behind the flashing MIL told them? If not, I think I would call and ask, because it might still be in the notes that the tech entered.
