bah, moving
I had a really good feeling before I saw the place I looked at this morning (smallish 1 story house). I really liked the ad and the pictures, and the idea of not sharing any walls with neighbors. It's a bit smaller than my current place (750 sq ft vs 1025) but, hey, I'm going from 2 people's stuff to one, right?
The living room has a fireplace in it, which is nice for romancing the ladies, but really restricts how furniture can be placed. I'm not really sure I can set it up to host a 5-6 person (players + GM) game. Which seems like kind of strange criteria for living space, but hey, I am who I am. Also, no basement, so I can't even live up to the ultimate gamer stereotype and game in the basement.
I realize that this is only the first place I looked at, but what's looking like #2 is way the hell on the wesside (nearish to Whitney Way). Still close to the bus line so I can make it into campus for work, but can I really be a westsider?
I really wish I was in a situation to be buying a house, but given that I really only have two months to find a place and move (which really means a Sept 1 lease, so less than a month in reality), and the mountain of debt that is going away all too slowly, it's not to be (yet).
In good news, I have more boxes than gawd, since a couple of my friends just bought a condo, and more boxes on the way from work.
